Patrol Officers Recover Stolen Car and Recover Firearms

On August 21, at approximately 1:48 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 15500 block of Woodward Place in Waldorf for the report of a suspicious subject possibly breaking into vehicles, while a second subject appeared to be acting as a lookout near a Dodge Challenger. As officers arrived in the area, they heard a car alarm sounding and observed one subject looking into a vehicle with a flashlight. When confronted, the subject immediately ran to the passenger side of the Dodge Challenger, which was running nearby, and fled in the vehicle. Other officers responding to the call successfully deployed stop sticks at the intersection of Woodward Place and Western Parkway, deflating the vehicle’s tire.

Officers pursuing the vehicle observed objects being thrown from the car before the vehicle turned onto Pierce Road and continued to the dead end where the occupants fled on foot. The suspected driver, later identified as Brandon Marquise Jackson, age 18, of Washington, D.C, was apprehended following a brief foot chase. Officers recovered the items thrown from the car, which included two loaded handguns and an extended magazine. Inside the Dodge Challenger, which had been reported stolen in another jurisdiction, officers located burglary and auto theft tools.

Upon further investigation, officers located a Dodge Charger on Woodward Place that was damaged by the suspects during an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle. Jackson was charged with auto theft, possession of a handgun by prohibited person and other weapons charges, and attempted auto theft. He was held without bond pending a court appearance.
